The Microduino Sensor PIR is a compact passive-infrared board built for stackable, snap-together building platforms. Its distinctive rounded top, finished with a waffle-like texture, picks up the infrared warmth given off by moving people, pets, and other warm objects and sends a simple on/off signal – high when movement is present, low when the area stays still.

With a wide 150° field of view and an effective reach of roughly 10 cm to 3 m (up to 5 m in open spaces), this tiny module is perfect for creations such as automatic lighting, door openers, burglar alarms, and interactive gadgets. Its extremely low current draw of just 12–15 µA makes it ideal for battery-powered designs, and it runs happily from any 3–5 V supply, tolerating temperatures from -20 °C to +85 °C.

  • Responds to infrared warmth from moving humans, animals, and objects
  • Signal flips high on movement and drops low when still
  • Wide 150° viewing angle with an effective 3–5 m range
  • Draws just 12–15 µA for impressive battery life
  • Operates from 3 V to 5 V and tolerates -20 °C to +85 °C
  • Attaches through a standard 4-pin connector to a sensor hub
  • Building-block friendly housing for quick, tool-free assembly
  • Programs with popular text-based and graphical coding tools

Whether you are a student, hobbyist, or educator, this little board makes it easy to respond to movement in classroom builds, smart-home prototypes, and robot inventions.
